REVIEW: All You Need to Know About Peripera’s Peri Tint Crayon

I just came back from the Peach and Lily K-Beauty Sample Sale in NYC with a major haul of goodies! I honestly thought I’d only get a few things, but I ended up leaving the event with two large gift bags packed with everything from toners to lipsticks to face masks. I only spent $108, but I got well over 30 products. That is what I call a steal.

For those of you who haven’t heard of them, Peach and Lily is a beauty startup that aims to bring beauty innovations from Asia to the US (think BB cream, sheet masks, and cushion compacts). According to their website, the factor that sets them apart is their curation process: they test and choose the best products for you so you don’t do something stupid like order a bunch of Asian beauty products from eBay that turn out to be a bust (I am always afraid to buy things on the Internet that aren’t satisfaction guaranteed or trustworthy!). So far I’ve liked what I’ve seen from Peach and Lily, but maybe I’m biased because I like sales.

One of my top goals at the sale was to expand my lipstick collection, which previously consisted of a few sad (possibly expired) tubes from high school I purchased at the Wynn closeout sale and the Body Shop. I was never really a lipstick person because lipstick has historically overwhelmed my face, but I’m trying to get into it. The first new lipsticks I’m adding to my collection are the Peripera Peri’s Tint Crayons

Ahhh ♡ Look at them! Aren’t they adorable? They come in crayon-style packaging, which makes them great for gifts and goodie bags. If you think the illustrations are familiar, that’s because they are. They were designed by Mari Kim, the woman behind 2NE1’s album art for “I am the Best” and music video “I Hate You.”

Peripera is a South Korean cosmetics brand. This is their official blurb:

From vivid lip tints + glosses, to perfectly pointed eye liners, every Peripera product arrives in a specially designed, romantically feminine package that you’ll love to show off.

Peripera Peri's Tint Crayons
Peripera Peri’s Tint Crayons in (R to L) Fruity Rose, Fruity Mint, Fruity Orange, and Fruity Pink.

Peri’s Tint Crayons are in fact crayon-shaped, go figure! In my opinion, this makes it much easier to apply. The crayons come in six different colors:

Peri’s Tint Crayon #1 Pink

Peri’s Tint Crayon #2 Orange

Peri’s Tint Crayon #3 Mint

Peri’s Tint Crayon #04 Fruity Love

Peri’s Tint Crayon #05 Fruity Sunny

Peri’s Tint Crayon #06 Fruity Rose

At the sample sale they only had four of the six colors, so those are the ones I’m going to test out for you.

1. Peri’s Tint Crayon #06 Fruity Rose

This is the sexier shade of Peri’s Tint Crayons. It’s a deep rose color that gets darker the more layers you put on. Perfect for date night or a big event.

2. Peri’s Tint Crayon #3 Mint

WARNING: Although the crayon itself is mint-colored, the lipstick itself is NOT. It initially applies as clear, but begins to turn a sheer pink-purple with heat. This means the color will look slightly different on anyone who wears it. This is how it looks on me.

3. Peri’s Tint Crayon #2 Orange

Nice and light. With soft application it’s an orange shade. With heavier application it can approach a coral color. A girl at the sample sale told me that orange lipsticks look good on girls with Asian skin tones like mine. I have yet to determine if this is true. You can let me know what you think in the comments.

4. Peri’s Tint Crayon #1 Pink

This color has great pigmentation, but I don’t think it looks that great on my skin when worn all over my lips. (Update: I tried this color with the lip gradiation and it looks a lot better!)

REVIEW: Peripera’s Tint Crayon ♬

♡ Color
The colors are fun, fruity, and feminine. If you’re looking for something bold with darker pigmentation, the Rose and Pink shades would be best. They show up immediately on first application and get more vivid with each new layer you add. One of the most common problems with non-matte lipsticks is that they’re not opaque enough to completely cover your lips. The Rose and Pink Crayons have a surprisingly high opacity for a moisturizing lipstick. They apply evenly and thickly.
If you’re looking for something natural, go with the Mint. It gives your lips a nice, subtle tint. The only problem I had with the Mint Crayon is that it doesn’t apply as evenly as the other shades, so you have to spend a lot more time applying it to ensure full coverage.
If you’re looking for something fun, Fruity Orange is your best bet. It’s more subtle than the Rose and Pink, but it still adds a little excitement to your daily makeup routine.
♡ Texture
These lip crayons are creamy and moisturizing! They don’t dry our your lips like other lipsticks. You won’t need to add a layer lip gloss after applying Peri’s Tint Crayons because they are already shiny. I still recommend putting on a layer of chapstick and exfoliating your lips before applying for best results.
♡ Scent
They smell slightly fruity, but I don’t think scent is a significant enough factor when deciding whether or not to buy them.
♡ Lasting Power
Peri’s Tint Crayons last quite a long time. The color actually stains your lips a bit, so you’re able to survive drinking water and (carefully) eating a meal. You should still reapply throughout the day.
♡ Packaging
Adorable! Pretty! Kawaii! The packaging is one of the best parts of this product. Rather than a typical lipstick box, Peri’s Tint Crayons are packaged in a colored pencil with an illustration of a cute girl. Seekers of all things pretty and cute, look no further – someone was thinking about you when they designed this product.
♡ Price
On Amazon.com Peripera Peri’s Tint Lip Crayons are only $10-$11 dollars! That’s so much cheaper than buying a $25 lipstick from Sephora, and it’s of similar quality! On top of that, you get a LOT of product. I rolled up these crayons and they stretch out pretty far, which means they’ll last a while. They’re also Amazon Prime eligible, which means free shipping (hooray)! Other places you can purchase this product: Urban Outfitters, Birchbox, Forever 21, eBay.
Final Verdict:  ☆☆☆☆
I give it 4/5 stars. The combination of strong, beautiful pigmentations, packaging, product quantity, and reasonable price makes this a good buy.
